The Community Emergency Response Team is a part of the Citizen Corps program of the Department of Homeland Security. In some areas where CERTs have been organized, they represent an important relief component to localized first response planning. Made up entirely of volunteers, the North Royalton CERT is a formal part of the city of North Royalton’s safety forces. This CERT has served as a model for other CERTs throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond.
Used for education and engagement, the North Royalton CERT website is the most important piece of the organization’s marketing efforts. To increase community engagement through education and volunteerism, the website is used for both community messaging and volunteer recruitment.
The website also serves as a centralized node for coordinating volunteer efforts through a sophisticated membership database system.
